Got around to thinking this today, during worship. What’s our Life like? By “Life”, I mean our Christian walk…hence the capital L.
I know for a fact that most of us can’t be very satisfied with the kind of Life we’re living now. Not because we’re greedy, but because we still fall short of what God wants us to do. Of course we disappoint God, some more often than others…and that’s what we call sin. Some of it we really don’t want to do it, other we revel in it. It may be “circumstantial actions” or “justifiable”, but whatever you call it, it’s still sin. (It’s just whether we recognise it to be there or not.)
Why are we then able to enjoy all that we do? Material aside, we have an Eternal Father preparing a place in Paradise for us, a Comforter to turn to in times of need, a Healer in sickness, a Rock to stand on, and a Warrior to wreck vengeance for His people should they suffer wrongdoings. Look at the Life we live and honestly tell me: do we deserve it? No. Then why do we have it?
By His stripes we are healed.
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Yeah, you’ve heard the story plenty of times, and probably cried the first few times you did. But did you ever stop to consider this:
it could have been you. In fact, it
should have been you. The nine inch nails through your hands, the lacerated back, the ravens picking at your flesh slipping out of your skin, the crown of thorns and the mockery of hanging naked on the cross, not to mention the spear in the side. That should have been you. And that should have been me, too. But instead we are here.
Thank Him? Of course.
Praise Him? All the more!
How? Live your Life the way He would approve.
It’s hard, but remember that He’s already paid for our sins. By His grace alone we can stand before Him blameless. One drop of His blood is heavier than the weight of all our sins.
